The Isle of Bute lies off the west coast of Scotland untouched by modern developments and retaining its unrivalled natural beauty. Easily reached via either Glasgow airport, a train ruide and 35 minute ferry crossing it's unnecessary to use a car. The Port Royal Hotel despite its grand name is a seashore village inn of 1810 A.D. at Port Bannatyne, a yacht and fishing bay. Bought by a Russian family eight years ago, its Russian Tavern serves freshly landed seafood, Russian specialities, Real Ales poured directly from the casks on the bar, and a fine selection of Russian wines, beers and vodkas. The view from The Tavern across the yacht bar to the hills beyond is exceptional. Outside, seals and eiderducks sghare the beach, while to the rear of the stone building wild deer graze the golfcourse.
